Jefferson City Police responded to a domestic assault call Tuesday evening in the 1100 block of Madison Street.
The suspect 37-year old David Eugene Rodebaugh of Jefferson City left the area before officers arrived.
A responding officer spotted his vehicle near Highway 54 and began following him. When Rodebaugh saw the officer he sped away on Highway 54. A Cole County deputy joined the Jefferson City Police Officer in the pursuit. The suspect vehicle reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
The suspect attempted to turn off Highway 54 onto Heritage Highway and failed to negotiate the turn, wrecking his vehicle. He then ran into a wooded area.
Jefferson City Police, as well as officers from the Missouri Highway Patrol and Cole County Sheriff’s Office began a search of the area. The Jefferson City Police Department’s K-9 was called in and was able to locate Rodebaugh. He was taken into custody. he is currently being held in the Cole County jail awaiting charges of domestic assault, resisting arrest, driving while revoked and property destruction.
