MoDOT Work to Cause Delays on Route 54 in Jefferson City

Early season trips to the Lake of the Ozarks may take a little longer.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says bridge and resurfacing work will cause delays in both directions on U.S. Route 54 from the Missouri River Bridge to the Stadium Blvd. exit at the Capitol.

The project includes resurfacing, pavement repair, shoulder repair, and guardrail upgrades. Six bridges will be under construction as part of the project.

The work starts Monday and will continue at different spots in the construction zone for months. Both lanes of traffic will be open for the Memorial Day weekend. After Memorial Day, the lane and ramp closure will resume until mid-June.

After the bridge work is complete, there will be nightly lane closures on Route 54 and the adjacent ramps to perform pavement resurfacing work. The nightly work hours are from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

All of the work is scheduled to be complete by Nov. 1.
